One Argument For Marriage...

Here's an interesting note.

Being in a family where your parents are married to each other is good for children under 5 years of age in at least one way: they are less likely to live in poverty.

Just over 8.5% of children whose parents are married live in poverty, while more than 43% of children in single parent homes live in poverty in the US.

Single-parent families are 5 times more likely to raise their small children in poverty.  And the figures are similar for children ages 5 to 17.

Sad....

  1. Hey John...please tell me you saw Pelosi's comments on how you can now leave your job and focus on your music or on becoming an actor because taxpayers will foot the bill for their healthcare. It's an entrepreneurial bill!

  2. That's my plan.

You see, adversity makes us stronger - and often leads us to take steps we normally might not. Really, it's the mundane and predictable that enslave us.

Too many people are down on the current economy and that's just not right.

And so, I am spending my time in Iowa and Ohio taking dancing lessons at night. I'm also taking a correspondence course on grant writing and plan to apply for grants from the National Endowment For The Arts and the Ford Foundation that will help me launch a male ballet program to provide a sort of "dinner and a show" at food banks and soup kitchens in upper-middle class suburban neighborhoods.

Kind of "going out on my own".
